The shooting

The shooting occurred around 4 AM Sunday morning at a residence off Bethlehem Church Road just north of Grantville.

E911 received a call from someone at the residence around 4:05 AM stating that someone had been shot. Units with the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office were immediately dispatched to the location. Units with the CCFD were also dispatched and stagged in the area waiting for CCSO to clear the scene.

Dispatch audio sheds a light on the frantic scene as information gained by the 911 dispatcher was evolving drastically and rapidly. At first dispatch reported a female had been shot, within minutes that would change to a male. Other information including if the suspects were still on scene, etc. would change in the few short minutes before the first deputy arrived.

Upon arriving Deputies focused on securing the scene and locating the victim to render AID. Deputies, working with little information, arrived and detained the individuals located at the residence quickly. Having located the victim and secured the scene, CCFD units moved in and began working on stabilizing the victim who had received multiple gun shot wounds.

Once stabilized the shooting victim was transported by ambulance to the Newnan Coweta Airport where the awaiting Life Flight 4 crew then air lifted him to Grady’s trauma center in Atlanta.

Units at the incident location would request a second EMS unit respond to treat an individual with breathing problems, an apparent panic attack.

The scene includes a residence and several detached structures, it’s unknown to us at this time where the shooting occurred, but at least one of the suspects that was detained had gone into the woods behind the property.

Investigation

At this time the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office hasn’t released any information regarding a possible motive in the incident or the condition of the shooting vicitm.

While we haven’t been able to confirm yet, the charges against the suspects would tend to suggest there were 2 victims and that they were being held against their will.

This is an active investigation. We will update with more information as it becomes available. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office.
