Home NewsCrime Shooting overnight leaves apartment riddled with bullets at Jefferson Grove Apartments

Just after 2 AM this morning, February 16th, E911 received multiple calls stating that 6 to 10 shots had been fired at the complex.

One of the callers, an occupant of an apartment in the “D” building stated that she’d been awoken by the sound of the shots and that bullets had entered her apartment.

NPD and CCSO units quickly responded to the scene, securing shell casings and reporting that one apartment had “bullet holes in every door and window”.

While EMS was initially called out for possible injuries, law enforcement units on scene were able to quickly relay to dispatch that there were no injuries.

Units did an initial search of the complex and were unable to find any suspects. NPD’s criminal investigation division was called out to process the scene and investigators are actively working the case.

It seems at this time that the shooting was directed at a single apartment within the complex, however a motive is unknown at this time.

This is the latest incident for the complex that has seen multiple shootings and a robbery turned murder in the last few years. We’ve learned that the complex has reacted by hiring off duty officers to work security, however last night security did not seem to be on site.

If you have any information regarding the incident, you are urged to contact the Newnan Police Department at 770-254-2355, or by calling 911. You are able to provide information confidentially at both numbers.
