UPDATE
Inmate listings show that Mrs. Creel is no longer an inmate at the Coweta County Jail. This would indicate that she was able to see the Magistrate Judge and obtain bail. Unfortunately due to the holiday, we’ve been unable to procure any further information and our request for a statement on the Investigation remains outstanding at this time.
Just after 2:30 PM, Thursday, E911 received a call from a residence of Kildare Ct stating that an infant had been found unresponsive. Dispatch worked with the caller to start CPR, while units from both the CCFD and CCSO responded emergency status in an attempt to provide life-saving measures as quickly as possible.
CCSO units arrived on the scene shortly after being dispatched, with CCFD units arriving quickly after.
Unfortunately, their attempts were unsuccessful.
Publicly available information identifies the victim, as Carsynn Creel. While his birthdate has not been released, the information given by dispatch during the call indicates that Carsynn was just over a month old.
The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office investigation continued late into the night, resulting in the arrest and booking of Morgan Ashley “Alie” Creel, 30, of Palmetto on a single count of Cruelty to Children in the Second Degree.
She is currently being held without bond on this charge in the Coweta County Jail where she will remain until making her first appearance with the Magistrate Judge who will make a bond determination.
Due to the observance of Veterans Day falling on a Saturday, most local, state, and federal officers are closed today. It’s uncertain if this will affect the time Creel must wait before seeing the Magistrate Judge. It will however affect NCST’s ability to request and receive open records including a booking photo of the suspect.
According to O.C.G.A § 16-5-70(c), the statute that defines the Cruelty to Children charges, “Any person commits the offense of cruelty to children in the second degree when such person with criminal negligence causes a child under the age of 18 cruel or excessive physical or mental pain.“
It’s important to note, that Creel, at this point, has not been charged in the death of Carsynn, instead, she’s been charged in relation to some undisclosed evidence gathered at the scene stemming from the incident.
This is an ongoing investigation and we will report updates as they become available.
