A Newnan man has been arrested for stabbing his brother.
On August 29th, 2024, just after 6 PM, E911 received a call from the resident of an apartment at Pines by the Creek Apartments located at 54 Heery Rd in Newnan.
The male caller informed dispatch that he’d been stabbed by his brother who was still in the residence.
Members of the Newnan Police Department quickly responded to the scene where they were able to arrest the suspect and secure the scene so that the victim could receive treatment.
The victim was stabilized and taken via ambulance to an Atlanta area hospital, his current condition is unknown.
The Suspect
Merlin Copeland, 55, of Newnan, was arrested on the scene and booked into the Coweta County jail on the following charges.
Aggravated Assault (F)
As of the posting of this article, Copeland remains in custody of the Coweta County Jail and is being held without bond.
