The Coweta County Grand Jury returned Indictments on 8 criminal defendants for their roles in the February 17th murder of Dustin Parrott.
In a sad sign of the times, two of the suspects were just 13 years old at the time of the shooting, one was 14, one was 15, two were 17, one was 18 and the oldest was 21 years old.
The indictment, as well as the warrants for the individuals, set for a series of events that investigators believe started as a drug deal and ended in murder.
The following suspects were indicted for their roles in the murder of Dustin Parrott.
The indictment, as well as the warrants for each suspect, paint a picture of what investigators believe occurred that night.
According to the documents the victim, Dustin Parrot, as well as Mitchel Blane Allport and Cameron Ethan Rodgers had agreed to sell marijuana to the remaining suspects the night of February 17th, 2023.
After arriving at the the location of Cliff Cir that would later become the crime scene, Parrott met with at least some of the remaining defendants. While still in his vehicle, and during the course of the transaction, he was shot in the chest and died from injury.
The indictment also details the theft of an “AR Style” rifle from Parrott’s vehicle after he was murdered.
According to indictment, as well as warrant documents, Derrious Bernard Daniel was the suspect who fired the fatal shot that night.
According to the warrant, the gun used by Daniel to murder Parrott was provided by the youngest suspect, Dazarus Kinnard Render, was was just over 13 years old at the time of the murder.
According to his warrant document, Makale Williams, was at the vehicle that night during the robbery and was himself armed. Another warrant document places William Perry at the drivers side of the vehicle with Daniel, however does not state he was armed.
The indictment, as well as warrant documents, detail that both Daniel and Favors, secondary to the drug deal, intended, and did, steal an “AR Style” riffle from Parrott that night.
According to booking records, the shooter, Derrious Daniel, was arrested by officers from the Grantville Police Department around 14 hours after the murder on charges of Battery Simple and Child Cruelty. He was released from the Coweta County jail just over 7 hours later. These charges stemmed from an incident in December of 2022.
