\\ Suspect Arrested in Lakeside Way Shooting

The booking information regarding the suspect in the October 15th shooting at an apartment in Creekside Apartments off Lakeside Way that resulted in the tragic death of Angelica Monique Mann. Briana Nicole Roberts, 27, was booked in the early hours of October 16th on a single charge of Involuntary Manslaughter (F) and remains at the Coweta County Jail.

Incident Summary

Just before 11:30 PM on Thursday, October 15th, Coweta County E911 received a call regarding a person that had been shot at an apartment in the 700 building of Creekside at White Oak Apartments ( Previously Lakeside Apartments ) off Lakeside Way in Newnan.

Multiple units with the Coweta County Sheriff's Office were immediately dispatched to the scene along with Coweta County Fire Rescue EMS and Fire units. CCSO Deputies arrived on scene within minutes of dispatch and located a single female victim within the apartment that had suffered a GSW. They quickly worked to secure the scene and started attempting life-saving medical treatment that was quickly handed off with the arrival a few moments later by Fire and EMS units. Despite their efforts the victim succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances of the shooting began.

CCSO Statement & Investigation

On October 16th, the Coweta County Sheriff's Office released the following statement regarding the incident.

On October 15, 2026, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Coweta County Sheriff's Office deputies were dispatched to an apartment on Lakeside Way in reference to a reported shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located an unresponsive female suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The female was later pronounced deceased. The incident remains under active investigation, and one individual is currently in custody. Additional information will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation progresses. The Coweta County Sheriff's Office will provide further updates when appropriate.

No further official information has been released since.

Information gathered from dispatch audio, open records, and witnesses, indicates that both the Suspect and the Victim were residents of the apartment in which the incident occurred and were in a relationship.

Possible Result of Mental Health Episode

While no official motive or cause for the shooting has been released, information from that night points to the shooting possibly being the tragic result of the victim attempting to intervene in a mental health event the suspect was experiencing at the time.

Arrest & Charge

Booking records show that Briana Nicole Roberts, 27, was booked just after 3 AM the following morning and charged with the following.

• Involuntary Manslaughter (F)

The charge is defined in O.C.G.A § 16-5-3 as the following

• (a) A person commits the offense of involuntary manslaughter in the commission of an unlawful act when he causes the death of another human being without any intention to do so by the commission of an unlawful act other than a felony. A person who commits the offense of involuntary manslaughter in the commission of an unlawful act, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished by imprisonment for not less than one year nor more than ten years.
• (b) A person commits the offense of involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act in an unlawful manner when he causes the death of another human being without any intention to do so, by the commission of a lawful act in an unlawful manner likely to cause death or great bodily harm. A person who commits the offense of involuntary manslaughter in the commission of a lawful act in an unlawful manner, upon conviction thereof, shall be punished as for a misdemeanor.

The booking document we received doesn't indicate which section, a or b, the booking charge references, I've reached out to see if I can get that clarified.
