Just after 1 AM on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, officers with the Newnan Police Department (NPD) were involved in an Officer Involved Shooting (OIS) after a vehicle stop off Cliff Circle lead to a foot chase that ended with Zadarious Dorsey, 18, of Newnan being shot by officers and passing away shortly after at Piedmont Newnan Hospital (PNH).
This post updates our previous post regarding the suspect with new information regarding his August 27th indictment in Carroll County.
Incident Information
The following is taken from a O.C.G.A. 16-5-23) in that the said accused, in the State of Georgia and in the County of Carroll, on or about the 13th day of February, 2026, did intentionally make physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature, to wit: intentionally pushing \[REDACTED\] off of a bed, contrary to the laws of the State of Georgia, the good order, peace and dignity thereof.
The Grand Jury aforesaid, in the name and behalf of the Citizens of the State of Georgia, charge and accuse ZADARIOUS JAHKI DORSEY with the offense of Child Molestation (O.C.G.A. 16-6-4(b)) in that the said accused, in the State of Georgia and in the County of Carroll, on or about the 13th day of February, 2026, did commit an indecent act to \[REDACTED\], a child under the age of 16 years, with the intent to satisfy the sexual desires of himself by engaging in sexual intercourse, at a time when said child was at least 14 years of age but less than 16 years of age and said accused was 18 years of age and was no more than four years older than said child, contrary to the laws of the State of Georgia, the good order, peace and dignity thereof.
The Grand Jury aforesaid, in the name and behalf of the Citizens of the State of Georgia, charge and accuse ZADARIOUS JAHKI DORSEY with the offense of Statutory Rape (O.C.G.A. 16-6-3(c)) in that the said accused, in the State of Georgia and in the County of Carroll, on or about the 13th day of February, 2026, being 18 years of age, did engage in sexual intercourse with \[REDACTED\], a person at least 14 years of age but less than 16 years of age and not being the spouse of the accused, accused not being more than four years older than said person, contrary to the laws of the State of Georgia, the good order, peace and dignity thereof.
Arraignment
Case proceedings show that Dorsey was scheduled for an arraignment hearing next week on October 8th, 2026.
