Court Documents show that Daniel Lenwood Lee has plead guilty in a plea deal with the prosecution to testify against his wife, Elizabeth Lynn Lee in the November 4th, 2018 abuse and murder of their 2 year old daughter Aleigha Lee.

In summary, the plea requires Daniel Lee to provide truthful information in regards to the murder, and to provide testimony in the upcoming trial of Elizabeth Lee.  He also plead guilty to a single count of 2nd Degree Murder, a plea that he can’t change at this point.

In return for his guilty plea and information and testimony in the trial of Elizabeth Lee, the state has agreed to request a sentence of 30 years, with 20 years to be served in confinement. In the text of the plea agreement it states that the defense will be requesting a sentence of 30 years, with 15 to be served in confinement.

Daniel Lee has accepted the terms of the plea agreement, so too has the court. In line with cases like this, where the agreement requires the defendant to preform tasks or provide information, the sentencing hearing is being deferred until have the conclusion of Elizabeth Lynn Lee’s trial or her acceptance of a plea deal.

If Daniel fails to abide by the terms of his plea deal, the prosecution retains the right to try him or renegotiate the sentencing under a new plea deal.

Daniel Lee and Elizabeth Lee were both indicted in November 2020 for charges, including murder, for their parts in their daughters death. Once indicted, Coweta County Superior Court Case SUR2020000615 was created. The couple was being tried together under that case.

On Monday, August 28th, 2023, a new case was filed in the Coweta County Superior Court, SUR2023000467, naming only Daniel Lenwood Lee as a defendant, later that day a Rule Nisi was added to the case proceedings. The Rule Nisi was filed on August 22nd, 2023 by ADA Jillian Brasfield and requested a hearing for August 29th, 2023 at 9AM for the defendant to enter a plea.

Late yesterday an entry was added to the case proceeding for case 2023R467, the entry was for the Terms and Requirements of Plea Agreement. In the agreement Daniel Lee agrees to 8 separate terms or requirements. They are explained and listed below.

In acknowledgement 1, Lee agrees to plead Guilty on a single count of 2nd Degree Murder.

In acknowledgement 2, the terms for his possible sentence under the plea deal is explained. Under the plea he will receive 30 years, with the court deciding if he’ll spend 15 to 20 years of that in prison. It also sets forth the fact that sentencing will be deferred until have the conclusion of Elizabeth Lynn Lee’s case.

Acknowledgements 3 through 5 deal with Lee’s agreement to work with prosecutors by providing information and testimony in the case against Elizabeth Lynn Lee.

Acknowledgements 6 through 8 pertain to Lee’s understanding that by entering the plea deal he’s waiving rights he’d normally have, that by pleading guilty now he can no change his pleading in the future, and what happens if he breaks the terms of the plea agreement.

Finally the document ends with all parties to the plea deal signing their names to it.

Lee will remain in custody in the Coweta County Jail until his sentencing hearing. We’re working on getting a further update on the status of Elizabeth Lynn Lee’s case and will provide it as soon as possible.
